Ron: Exasperate is not a word we use much today. It means to provoke to anger. Hmmm. Who do you exasperate?
Announcer: For FamilyLife Blended®, here’s Ron Deal.
Ron: In Ephesians 6 the Bible specifically tells fathers not to exasperate their children. Instead, treat them with dignity so they grow to know the Lord. Well, sometimes, in a blended family, stepchildren and stepparents exasperate each other. Usually not on purpose, of course. They’re just trying to figure out life.
So here’s a prayer to keep close by. “Lord, give the stepparent in our home a spirit of gentleness so they will not embitter the children. Give stepchildren a basic respect for the stepparent’s authority, and give both a soft heart for the other.” Amen. For FamilyLife Blended, I’m Ron Deal.
